...were the words that DIDN'T come out of my mouth on Saturday. I got duped into buying a magazine, and I'm going to try to cancel it, but I don't hold out much hope of that actually happening.

I discovered I can tell people to bugger off (very nicely, I might add) over the phone, but put a face at my door... I thought at first it was just a survey or something, but something was nagging me the whole time. Something wasn't right.

I figured out what it was, all right, but not before I'd send him out the door with a check for MacAddict.

*sigh*

I'm kicking myself for it today. I can't afford the luxury, but I'm doing it anyway. One of these days I'm going to learn not to be so damn nice.

Did he say, "My mother thanks you" whenever he was leaving your door? That's what all the magazine kids say here.

Also, technically, the kid wasn't soliciting. Soliciting means that he wants your money for nothing. He was peddling. He was actually trying to sell you a good or service in exchange for money.

Just a little lesson from my former life.

Thanks. Forgot to send that thing off today to cancel, but oh well. Maybe it wasn't a scam and I'll actually get a magazine out of it.

I'm not holding my breath, though.
